Combined hydro & heat pump system

Picture
We knew we wanted to make the most of the renewable energy potential of the old mill race.  We didn't know how. The solution for us was to combine an 11KW archimedes screw hydro system with 30KW of water source heat pumps - we now produce 70k KWhr of electricity per year and 90KWhr of heat, saving over 50 tonnes per annum in CO2 emmissions

History

Welcome!

We hope that this site will be of value to those interested variously; in renewable energy and the particular potential offered by old mill sites, the history of this mill and the work to enhance migratory fish passage and the local environment.
